Thursday ulit. Excited ako sa worship service ni Pastor Paul kasi I've been missing it for around two or three times already. Kailangan ko na ng spiritual nourishment. While waiting for Pastor Paul, we have the residents practice the new set of worship songs. Compared to the previous worship services, I felt that this time it was not that livelier as before. Maybe because many of the residents had been discharged already and only few of them were left.

We were in the middle of practice when we were called for another set of pictorial with Doc. Randy. That time I felt that I wanted to stay for the service, however, I must go for the photo shoot. It was sad because it meant missing the worship for the nth time. And the pictorial started as soon as PAstor Paul arrived. I was really sad missing the service and the residents who were not there anymore.

There were two things that we get excited about. First, yung graduation nung isang resident. Second is our chance to have picture with Doc Randy! (yehey!). Kaya right after our early lunch, we changed to our corporate attire. Masay yung pictorial. Masaya kami lahat after non.:)

After ng pictoril, we practiced our presentation para sa graduation program.Pati yung mga residents nag-practice din. Pero hindi nila alam na graduation pala. We let them think na para sa culminating activity yung pinapractice nila.
After ng rehearsals, pinapasok muna yung mga residents sa rooms nila so that we can have enough time to set-up the designs for the program. I noticed that most of them are excited for the graduation program, however, I can sense that some were envious because one of them will graduate.

Everyone is happy for the graduate. And everyone was moved by the messages of the residents, the management and especially the family.

Syempre, I'm wishing him well that he is now on the start of his new life.
God Bless!

January 25, 2010 : Finding Meaning in Life

The theme for this week would be finding meaning in life. As preparation for the new theme, we brainstormed on what activities we can facilitate. Good thing everyone got to share their ideas.
As usual, bago kami mag-start ng activities, we were met by our supervisor. That was the time we found out na marami sa mga residents yung na-discharged against medical advise (DAMA). *Nagkakaroon ng DAMA if nag-decide yung family na i-discharge na yung relative nila even hindi pa complete yung program.*
We felt sad upon hearing that.

Ang main activity for this day ay isang clay art activity. Gumawa yung mga residents ng isang art out of a clay. Tapos after i-display yun sa harap, five of us practicum students destroyed their works. As expected, nagalit and nagulat yung ibang residents.

Which is to know first one's creator. However, still, most of the ideas came from the facilitator.

Nung afternoon, admin work ako. buti nlang may kasama ako. And while yung ibang practicum students eh nagsisimula na sa afternoon activity, kami naman ni rio eh nag-heart to heart talk. That was a refreshing conversation because we were both given the chance to discuss and share our family problems which I did for the first time.

After the activities, we were met by our supervisor again. He checked on what are the good and bad things that happened during the session. He also reminded us that we should lessen the "why" questions during the processing because it seems that we are demanding for a justification for their answers. He also commented on the way we facilitate, thus engaging us to a difficult conversation. I agree that we need brutally frank comments in order for us to grow. I think it would also be a way for us to evaluate and examine ourselves.

After the meeting, we were also informed that on wednesday, it will be the graduation day for one of the residents and we shoukld prepare a program for it.
